🔔 Important Update: Identity Verification Now Required for Directors and PSCs

From 18 November 2025, new legal rules come into effect requiring all company directors and people with significant control (PSCs) to verify their identity with Companies House. This is part of a wider effort to improve transparency and reduce corporate fraud.

Once verified, you will receive a Companies House personal code — a unique identifier tied to you as an individual. You’ll need this code to:

  • File confirmation statements
  • Be appointed as a director or PSC
  • Continue holding your current role

How to Verify Your Identity

You can verify yourself using the free ‘Verify your identity for Companies House’ service via GOV.UK One Login. You'll be guided through one of the following methods:

  • A secure mobile app
  • Online security questions
  • Uploading photo ID, then visiting a participating Post Office
